Bec + Jacob: Cooranbong Farm

The brief:

“Semi formal/cocktail - hopefully nice summery day on a property, fun with immediate family and friends, and our beloved dogs. Just want a day of love!”

Bec and Jacob first reached out about 10 months before their wedding when plans were still settling. They were locking in their venue, a private property available for hire for functions called Watagan View Venue at Cooranbong nestled between the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie - the perfect spot for their loved ones to get to. Their photographer, the wonderful Will from Euphoria Films and his videographer Lincoln, were also freshly booked.

Bec (the bride, not me) bravely and very fabulously did a lot of the wedding planning, coordinating and setting up herself, which was so true to her busy, fun and organised personality. In fact, her plinths were purchased from another couple I married a few months earlier, who custom made them for their own ceremony.

And yes, celebrating their love story in their ceremony was fun!

Do you remember that weird time in history when you’d see fully grown adults wandering the streets, staring at their phones, nearly walking into traffic just to catch a digital Pikachu?

Yeah, that was this love story’s big breakthrough. It was Pokémon Go.

With the smoothness of a man who had once wooed a woman by throwing rocks at her (on the first day of year 7), Jacob slid into Bec’s facebook messenger.

“Hey… There are heaps of rare Pokémon at The Entrance. We should go catch ‘em all.”

What an offer. She threw on her brand new Tommy Hilfiger jumper, laced up her connies, and jumped in his Hilux.

Now, if you know Pokémon, you know that a good trainer doesn’t just throw a Poké Ball and hope for the best; choosing the right partner is everything. And Jacob knew, without a doubt, that Bec was the one he wanted by his side for every battle ahead.

Jacob adores Bec’s kind heart, unwavering love for him (and for the dogs), and the way she brings joy, fun, and a very necessary level of planning to his life.

Bec loves Jacob’s patience, ability to make her laugh every single day, and the way he makes life feel lighter, easier, and always a little bit ridiculous.

With Nala their border collie and Maverick their kelpie by their sides, they were married in between two trees on a very steamy February afternoon at a private property at Cooranbong, followed by a big BYO bash and a big side serving of woodfired pizzas straight out of the pizza truck.

This was a gritty, real, fabulously energetic and frivolously fun love to celebrate.

Thank you, Bec and Jacob!

What Bec and Jacob said:

We couldn’t be happier that Bec was our celebrant. From our first chat she felt like a friend, genuinely invested in our story and so easy to chat to! The ceremony she created felt polished and deeply personal - full of heart, just the right amount of humour and moments that genuinely moved us and our guests.

She handled all the logistics so we could just be present and enjoy the day. If you want your wedding to feel truly you, relaxed yet meaningful, then Bec is exactly who you want.

Thank you, Bec - you made it unforgettable.
